The Road to Rescue Runs North

Twenty-four dogs once scheduled for euthanasia in an overcrowded Louisiana shelter are now safe, thanks to teamwork, compassion, and quick action. Their story is a heartbreaking example of a larger crisis—across the country, hundreds of thousands of dogs are euthanized each year, not because of illness or behavior, but simply due to lack of space and resources. But this time, their story had a different ending.

Thanks to the support of BISSELL Pet Foundation and our dedicated community, we were able to step in. Our incredible road team, Albert and Artem, hit the road in our PTTR Sprinter van—affectionately known as Waggin’ Wheels—and drove through the night to meet these dogs in Indiana. From there, they safely transported all 24 to our rescue partners at the Humane Society of Sheboygan County in Wisconsin, where forever homes are now within reach.

Dogs like Squirt, Alice, and Breezy—who were just days away from losing everything—are getting a second chance at life.

Every time we see a dog once on the euthanasia list now curled up in loving arms, we’re reminded of why we do this work. These moments are only possible because of generous donors, partners, and the people who say yes when urgent calls come in.

A heartfelt thank you goes to BISSELL Pet Foundation for coordinating and funding this mission. Their ongoing support ensures we can continue answering those calls, mile after mile.

Together, we turned a near tragedy into 24 happy new beginnings.
