The Great Hunk Heist, One Pig’s Flight to Freedom
Every rescue mission is special, but some come with a little extra personality. This one came with a hundred pounds of charm and a name that fit perfectly.
Meet Hunk.
Just under two years old and weighing in at around one hundred pounds, Hunk was not your average rescue passenger. Known for standing up at his door just to greet visitors and make sure he was not overlooked, Hunk quickly won over everyone who met him. Sweet, social, and full of character, he had a way of making people smile the moment they saw him.
On this memorable mission, Hunk boarded Little Paw for a very important journey, his very own freedom flight. Leaving behind shelter life in Maryland, he lifted into the sky and began traveling toward something far better, a place where he could finally live safely, comfortably, and surrounded by care.
His destination made the story even sweeter.
Hunk was headed to Arthur’s Acres Animal Sanctuary, where he would meet Stanley, the very first pig rescue our team had ever helped transport. The hope was that the two pigs might become fast friends, sharing space, sunshine, and a life where they could simply be pigs.
This mission came together thanks to an incredible team of people who stepped in to make sure Hunk’s journey happened safely. From the ground to the cockpit, every person involved played a part in helping this handsome pig take the next step in his life.
Moments like this remind us that rescue comes in all shapes and sizes. Whether an animal has paws, feathers, or hooves, the goal is always the same: giving them the chance to live the life they deserve.
On this day, one very special pig took to the skies and flew straight toward his second chance.
And that pig’s name was Hunk.
