Stanley’s Journey to Safety: A Rare and Remarkable Rescue
On a cold December morning, our volunteer pilots departed New Jersey. They headed south to Atlanta, not with a cabin full of dogs, but to rescue one very special passenger: Stanley, a 250-plus-pound pot-bellied pig whose future depended on immediate action.
Stanley had once been a beloved pet, but without proper veterinary care, his health began to decline. His size made walking difficult, and when his housing situation fell apart, he was facing eviction with nowhere safe to go. Time was running out, and options were few. This was not a routine mission; it was a rare, complicated rescue that required determination, coordination, and heart.
So we did what we do best. We flew him to safety.
Despite freezing temperatures and logistical challenges, the mission moved forward. Stanley’s weight, the weather, and the distance did not stop our team, because every life matters, especially those with nowhere else to turn.
Thanks to the incredible team at Arthur’s Acres Animal Sanctuary, Stanley arrived at a place where compassion meets expertise. He is now receiving the medical care, hoof treatment, and daily attention he needs, along with something just as important: the chance to simply be a pig, safe and loved.
This extraordinary save was only possible because of an extraordinary community. Our deepest thanks go to Rebecca at Wolf Conservation Center, Todd and the team at Arthur’s Acres, and everyone who played a role in getting Stanley home. This mission reminded us why we fly, because even the rarest, most challenging rescues are worth it, and because second chances should never depend on size, species, or circumstance.
