Season of Second Chances: A Home for the Holidays Rescue Flight
Another successful Home for the Holidays mission was completed as Pilots MacKenzie and Michael safely flew 22 rescue dogs from overcrowded shelters in South Carolina to trusted rescue partners up north. This mission marked another meaningful step toward our Giving Season goal of helping 200 animals find safety and hope for the holidays.
The day began at Georgetown County Airport, where the send-off felt more like a celebration than a departure. Members of the SE Coast SC Rescue Collaboration gathered to show their support, joined by community members, potential donors, and volunteers who shared lunch, conversation, and a collective commitment to saving lives before takeoff.
We were also grateful to be joined on this mission by influencer Matt Fernandez, whose presence helped bring additional awareness and heart to the work being done. We sincerely thank Matt for taking the time to fly alongside our team and support rescue efforts during this important mission.
On board the flight were dogs of all sizes and stories, including Toby, a 90-pound gentle giant headed toward his forever home, a litter of five puppies beginning their lives with renewed hope, and beloved dogs like Magnolia, Daisy, Pebbles, and many others. Each animal represented a second chance made possible through collaboration and compassion.
The dogs originated from Dillon County, Horry County Animal Care Center, and Williamsburg County Animal Care and Control, and were transported to loving rescue partners, including Freedom First Rescue and Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter. Through these partnerships, each animal arrived one step closer to a safe, permanent home.
This mission was a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished when communities, rescue organizations, and supporters come together. With 22 more lives moved to safety, the countdown to 200 continued, bringing hope, one flight at a time.
