Mike’s Miracle Flight: 69 Second Chances and One Giant Leap Toward Hope
A life-saving mission took flight—literally. Aboard a single aircraft were 69 animals—54 cats and 15 dogs—whose futures had once looked heartbreakingly bleak. Among them was Mike, a 103-pound gentle giant who had been just days away from euthanasia in a crowded Georgia shelter.
Thanks to the unwavering efforts of our rescue network and pilots Stephen Nur and Michael Schneider, Mike and his fellow passengers were given a second chance. With support from Seuk’s Army and generous sponsorship from Best Tugs, the flight departed South Carolina and made its way north, delivering these animals to new lives across New York and New Hampshire.
Every single dog on board had been on the euthanasia list. But instead of a tragic end, they found safe haven with compassionate rescue partners like Darbster Kitty, Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, and Live and Let Live Farm Rescue—where Mike now waits for a forever home.
Mike's story is especially powerful. Despite his size, he's as sweet and gentle as they come. The thought that such a loving animal came so close to being lost simply because shelters are overcrowded is heartbreaking—but it’s a reality we face every day.
This mission wasn’t just about transport. It was about hope, compassion, and what’s possible when people come together to act quickly. Our monthly donors were essential in making this mission happen—covering the fuel, logistics, and coordination it takes to respond when time is running out.
Thank you to Best Tugs for sponsoring this mission and helping us give 69 animals a second chance at life. ✈️
For every Mike we save, there are still many more waiting. Your support—whether through donations or sharing these stories—helps keep our wings in the air and our mission alive.
Together, we turned heartbreak into hope.
