A Father’s Day Worth Flying For

Behind every joyful rescue photo lies something even more powerful: you. Your support turns missions into pure magic, filled with teamwork, hope, and on this mission, 18 dogs' lives changed forever.

This flight carried some of our most inspiring passengers yet, including Nemo and Dory, two dogs whose resilience defined the spirit of the day. Nemo was born with a deformed leg, battling heartworm, and struggling to breathe. Dory carried a tumor the size of a tennis ball. Both were found in an overcrowded Texas shelter, scared and unsure if they’d ever see safety. Alongside them were five tiny Chihuahuas rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding case, 34 dogs in one overwhelmed home. Flea-covered and frightened, they were finally on their way to freedom.

At the controls of this extraordinary flight was Captain Eric Quinn, a commercial airline pilot for American Airlines, who chose to spend his Father’s Day not in the cockpit of a jetliner, but in the cockpit of a rescue plane. By his side were two of his eight children, including his daughter, a volunteer with Dallas Pets Alive. It was a true family mission, one that showed what compassion, leadership, and love for animals can do when hearts unite for a cause.

From takeoff in Texas to touchdown in Philadelphia, this mission embodied the best of what happens when people come together for good. All 18 dogs on board are now safe with Animal Welfare Association and Good Old Tails Senior Animal Rescue, where they’ll soon be ready for adoption and new beginnings.

This rescue was made possible through the partnership of Dallas Pets Alive, Animal Welfare Association, and our incredible PTTR pilots Eric Quinn and MacKenzie Brendlen, along with every supporter who donates, shares, and spreads the word.

Every dollar, every post, every act of kindness fuels missions like this. Because of you, animals like Nemo, Dory, and those five tiny survivors finally have a chance to heal, to be loved, and to live.

The sky was full of heart on this Father’s Day flight, and the ripple effect of that compassion will last a lifetime.
