Nadine Gelineau was a warrior
She passed away from lung cancer in Los Angeles on April 7th. She was 56 years old.
By all accounts, and in terms of how we think of ourselves in this industry, (which is really more of its own secret society), Nadine was a queen. A lifer. A super-fan. A guru. An aficionado. A confidant. A friend. She was a woman who gave and who never stopped giving, whether it was of her time, her passion, her heart... she always gave her all.
By all accounts, and in terms of how we think of ourselves in this world, to have known someone like Nadine is a rare and precious thing. Be you a parent, brother, aunt, cousin, bestie, music maker, pal, pet, someone else’s pet, she loved you, unconditionally.
Nadine always loved animals. But for the past several years, she found time to focus her energy, love and compassion on animal rights and rescue. She was deeply committed to NKLA (No Kill LA), an initiative led by Best Friends Animal Shelter, bringing together city shelters and a coalition of animal welfare organizations to end the killing of dogs and cats in shelters throughout Los Angeles by the year 2017. Allowing Nadine’s heartfelt commitment to the animals to live on, her family and friends have established Nadine’s Furry Friends, which will donate shared revenue to NKLA, as well as Pilots To The Rescue, a not-for-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to the task of delivering pets to new adoptive owners otherwise slated to be euthanized. Those wishing to make either one-time or ongoing donations, can make a donation online It would be a great way to honor our dear friend and to embrace the positive impact of her undying spirit.
